Smores Galore!

Made over a campfire, a stove flame, or transformed into another type of dessert, Smores are one of the best treats out there. I know they are one of my all time favorites. So here is a complication of Smores recipes for all you other Smores lovers!

This is my favorite Smores recipe, hands down. My husband originally made it for my birthday a couple of years ago. He made it again earlier this year for his mom's birthday. It was even better than anyone of us remembered. Made with a pre-made graham cracker pie crust and marshmallow fluff, it's also extremely easy to make!

These little cookies are freakin' addicting. Sugar cookie, chocolate spread, and marshmallow fluff, how could you go wrong?

These cookies are made with all the same ingredients as the Smores Cups; they're just assembled differently.

These are fun little desserts or appetizers. I bake mine, but you can also fry them.

Yes, another Smores cookie recipe. What can I say? I love cookies more than any other baked good.

Eric and I love making Peep Smores. Every year we do it with Christmas Peeps over a gas stove or in the fireplace and we do it with Halloween Peeps over a bonfire. The ironic thing is, either of us are huge Peep fans. But man, do we love them in Smores!

Enjoy!

Roasted Peeps in Hot Chocolate

Halloween Peeps!
This totally isn't a recipe, but it's just a fun way to change up hot chocolate. And I may have mentioned it before in a couple of other posts, but I thought it deserved it's own post too--it's just that yummy and fun.

So on our honeymoon Eric and I made peep smores and I had the thought to put a roasted Peep in a cup of hot cocoa. (A regular roasted marshmallow would be fabulous too!)

Halloween Peep Smores!

I highly recommend making your own hot chocolate mix. You'll never go back to the store-bought stuff, trust me.

Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix
Ingredients:
3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Pour about half of the mix into a good processor and pulse until the chocolate chips become finely ground. Pour into an airtight container. Repeat with the other half of the mix.

To make a cup of hot chocolate: heat up 1 cup milk or water, pour in 1/3 cup hot cocoa mix, and stir.

And you might just want to put a pumpkin Peep in your pumpkin hot cocoa!

Enjoy!

Halloween Peep Smores!

You may remember, that Eric and I have made Christmas Peep Smores a couple years ago over our gas stove. Well, this year we made Halloween Peep Smores over a campfire on our honeymoon. Peeps make fabulous, festive smores. Now, I'm normally one to thrust my marshmallow into the flames, set it on fire, and char the outside. That's how I like my marshmallows. However, with the peeps, you want to take your time and caramelize the sugar coating, not burn it (learned my lesson on that making Christmas Peep smores). This tries my patience, but it's so worth it.

Ingredients:
Pumpkin or ghost Peeps
Chocolate Bars
Graham Crackers

Directions:
Roast your peep, caramelizing the sugar coating the marshmallow. Layer graham cracker, chocolate, Peep, graham cracker.

Alternative to a smore: Put your roasted peep or marshmallow into a cup of hot chocolate . . . so good!
Enjoy!

Christmas Peep S'mores

So this isn't really a recipe but just something fun to do.

Eric and I are pretty low-key people. Our first New Year's Eve together, we got all dressed up and headed out to a party. On the way there, we both decided that we didn't feel like being at a loud, crowded party. Instead, we stopped at a 24-hour super center, bought champagne, some scary movies, and the makings for s'mores. Back at my apartment, we rang in the New Year roasting marshmallows on my gas stove, watching horror flicks, and sipping champagne. It was perfect. This has now become our tradition on New Year's Eve--though this year we watched Harry Potter instead of scary movies. We also decided to make our s'mores with holiday peeps that Eric got in his Christmas stocking.

S'mores with chocolate reindeer peeps
Ingredients:
chocolate bar
holiday peeps
graham crackers

chocolate reindeer peeps

snowmen peeps
Directions:
Roast marshmallows in a bonfire, fireplace, or on a gas stove top. Build your s'more by layering a graham cracker, piece of chocolate, roasted peeps, and then another graham cracker.
